Sometimes you don't need an elaborate dish to feel happy. Simple recipes like this semolina porridge show that it's often the simple things that do us good. Quick to make, with just two ingredients – yet full of warmth and enjoyment.
For me, semolina porridge is a small, everyday dish that always works: in the morning, in the evening, or simply when I want to treat myself. No fuss, no major preparation—just a few minutes, and you've got a bowl full of creamy goodness in front of you.
Semolina Porridge and our Little Porridge Family
When we were children, we lovingly gave the different porridge dishes names: For us, porridge was the sister of rice pudding, and semolina porridge was the brother. I don't remember exactly how that came about, but back then, we kind of enjoyed giving them a little family structure. Maybe because we loved them all—each recipe in its own way.
And you can also find the “brother” rice pudding here on “sizzling & frizzling”.
Semolina Porridge – Quick and Easy to Prepare in the Microwave
What's especially practical about this recipe is that you can easily prepare the semolina porridge in the microwave. No burning, no stirring on the stovetop – simply pour the milk and semolina into a microwave-safe bowl, heat, stir, and you're done. This makes it an ideal recipe for busy days, spontaneous cravings, or when you just need something warm in a hurry!
Of course, the recipe also works the traditional way on the stovetop – you'll find detailed instructions in the recipe section. So you can decide for yourself which version suits your daily routine better.
Semolina Porridge – Versatile and Always Delicious
Semolina pudding is not only uncomplicated, but also wonderfully versatile. Plain or with a dollop of butter, classic with cinnamon and sugar, or fruity with applesauce, cherries, or berries—you do what you like.
And if you'd rather avoid animal products, you can easily make the semolina porridge with plant-based milk, such as oat, almond, or soy milk. The result will be just as creamy and delicious!
