These Christmas cookies just taste heavenly and melt in your mouth! And on top of that, there’s hardly any easier or quicker Christmas cookie recipe! They’re wonderfully chocolatey, almost like a brownie.
This recipe is based on a Nutella Cookie Recipe from Chefkoch. I made some adjustments because the bittersweet chocolate hazelnut spread that I prefer for this recipe, comes in jars of 200g. Furthermore, you can easily sub some of the flour for ground hazelnuts to enhance the hazelnut flavor in these cookies.
To be honest, I never tried to use my own Bittersweet Chocolate Hazelnut Spread recipe for these cookies. Have you tried this, yet? Then please tell me in the comments about it!
Chocolate Hazelnut Spread Christmas Cookies
These bittersweet "Nutella" Christmas Cookies are super quick to make and a highlight in any Christmas treats box! Soft and rich like a brownie, they melt in your mouth. And the best part: we only need a few simple ingredients. This recipe is a win all around!
Ingredients:
How it is done:
-
Add all ingredients except for powdered sugar to a big mixing bowl. Start with the dry ingredients and mix them before adding the egg and Chocolate Hazelnut Spread.
-
Then use a handheld mixer with attached dough hooks to roughly mix the ingredients. However, it usually works best if you just go in with your hands and knead the dough until it comes together.
-
Preheat the oven to 350 °F (180 °C), top and bottom heat.
-
Shape balls of dough in the size of walnuts and spread them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
-
Then bake the cookies for 8 - 10 minutes. When you see some little cracks on the cookies, they are done and you can take them out of the oven. By no means, bake the cookies any longer! They get drier with every additional minute!
-
Let the cookies cool down and dust them with powdered sugar, before storing them in a cookie jar or box.
